Yes. Proxima is free to download and the core experience — searching any address, browsing categories, the map view, saving places, one Watch, and all the badges and ranks — is free forever. Proxima Pro is an optional subscription that lifts the limits (more Watches, a bigger saved library, unlimited custom searches, and priority checks).
Proxima is available now on Android via Google Play. An iOS version is in the works — add your email on the home page and we’ll let you know the moment it’s ready.
No. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no passwords. Open the app, set a home base, and start exploring. Your data lives on your device, not on our servers.
A Watch is a standing instruction to keep an eye on an area and category for you. Set one on, say, “cafés within 1 mile of home,” and Proxima checks quietly in the background — then sends you an alert when a new place opens, a rating shifts, or a spot closes. It’s the one thing a normal map can’t do.
Privacy is the whole point. Proxima has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking, and it never reads your device’s GPS. Your home base, saved places, and Watches are stored only on your phone. To remove everything, use Reset everything in the Profile tab, or simply uninstall the app. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Place data, ratings, hours, and distances come from Google Places, so they’re as current as Google’s data for your area. Weather is from OpenWeatherMap. Proxima only sends the address you chose to search around — never your live location.
Pro is for power explorers: more active Watches, a larger saved-places library, unlimited custom-keyword searches, priority Watch checks, and more results per search. It’s an optional subscription billed through Google Play and you can cancel any time from your Play account.
No. Proxima works from the address you set as your home base, not your device’s GPS — so it isn’t following you around. Watches run their checks against that fixed area, not your live position.
