This Privacy Policy describes how Proxima (“we”, “our”, “the app”) handles your information. Proxima is a mobile app that helps you discover places near a chosen location.
TL;DR
- Proxima stores all your data on your device only.
- We do not have user accounts, servers, or analytics.
- We send your chosen address coordinates to Google Places and OpenWeatherMap to fetch nearby places and weather. That’s it.
- We do not sell or share any data.
Information we collect
Proxima does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information to us. We do not operate any servers that hold user data.
Data stored locally on your device
The following is stored only on your device using the platform’s secure local storage and never leaves it (except as described below):
- Home Base address — the address you set for nearby search
- Saved places — places you bookmark
- Recent searches — recent address lookups
- Watches — areas you’ve configured to monitor for new businesses or rating changes
- Alerts — notification history from your watches
- Settings — your app preferences (units, default radius, animation toggles)
You can clear any of this data at any time from the Profile tab. Uninstalling the app removes all of it permanently.
Data sent to third-party services
To deliver core features, Proxima sends limited requests to the following services:

These services receive only the location you chose to search around — not your device’s actual GPS location. Their handling of those requests is governed by their own privacy policies:
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not request access to your device’s GPS location.
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any account information.
- We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
- We do not use cookies or tracking pixels.
- We do not share any data with advertisers.
Permissions
Proxima requests the following Android permissions:
- Internet — required to call Google Places and OpenWeatherMap.
- Coarse / Fine Location — declared but not actively used in the current version. Reserved for a future opt-in feature that would auto-detect your home base. The app does not read your device location at any point in the current version.
Children
Proxima is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at the same URL.
